Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
